The National Broadcasting Commission
recently released a list of banned songs and music videos for Nigerian
radio and television stations respectively. The list which is dated
July, 2015 contains about 18 songs which have been banned or confirmed
to be safe for broadcast (SFB).
The songs and videos which are not to be
broadcast (NTBB) have been banned for reasons ranging from vulgar
lyrics, obscene video, depiction of violence to promotion of
ostentatious lifestyle and indecent exposure.

Some of the banned songs include Nicki
Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’, Reminisce’s ‘Tesojue’, Naeto C’s ‘Tony Montana’, Lil
Kesh’s ‘Gbese’ and Jhybo’s ‘Lomo’. Some of the banned videos include
Phyno’s ‘Yayo’, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’, Masterkraft’s ‘Indomie’, Naeto
C’s ‘Tony Montana’, Olamide’s ‘Falila Ketan’, May D’s ‘Ibadi’, and
Davido’s ‘Fans Mi’.
